2 Week Update

It's hard to believe that our baby girl is two weeks old already!  Ava had her check-up with the pediatrician on Monday and she received a great report.  She is over her newborn weight, weighing in at 6lbs 7 oz and she gained .75", making her now 19.5" long.  We were told she is doing well!  The pediatrician was awesome and we are very happy we selected him as our provider.  Even though I babysat numerous children growing up, many of those infants, it is amazing how unsure you are of things when it comes to your own child.  We brought in a notebook with several questions--ok, close to 15--and the doctor answered all of them for us, without making us feel like a burden or that we were taking up too much time.  He really made us feel at ease about things.

We still aren't in a routine yet when it comes to sleeping, but we are starting to adjust.  I am trying to take everyone's advice and nap when Ava is napping.  The past few days I have gotten in an extra 2-3 hours of sleep during the day, and I can certainly tell that this helps when I am up during the night.  Ava is sleeping in a little bit longer of increments at night. We are at about 2.5 hours now.  The difficult thing is that it usually takes us about an hour to get her a bottle and rock her back to sleep.  If only she would fall asleep quicker...

Yesterday was my birthday and it was a very great day.  I got in a 2 hour nap in the morning, had a long snuggle session with Ava in the afternoon, and then had a date night with TJ while my mom came to babysit.  We went to Pizza Ranch--my favorite!!!--and then went to see Taken 2.  I couldn't have asked for a better day!

I am trying to think of other things that have gone on in the past two weeks....Ava had her newborn pictures in Indianola on Sunday, September 30.  I was nervous about how she'd do, but overall she did great.  We had a few fussy moments, but our photographer captured some amazing pictures!!  As soon as we receive the disc, I will post a few to the blog.  One of my favorite pictures is of Ava and Oreo.  I cannot believe Oreo sat so still for the picture!!  I was also nervous about how Ava would do with the long car ride to Indianola, but she did great. Only really fussed once on both the drive down and the drive back.  Actually, she does very well traveling in the car.  We have made a few local trips to run errands in town and she does just fine.  We even took her out to eat already once and she slept the whole time....Otherwise, I cannot think of any other major updates.  We are just enjoying our time at home with Ava.  We have had several visitors over the last two weeks.  It's been great to see everyone!

Enjoy some pictures from the past two weeks:

Snuggle time is the BEST!

We have been trying to get "tummy time" in every day.  We usually only make it a few minutes, but boy is Ava strong already.  She does a good job lifting her head.

Uncle Matt and Annie came to visit twice already
